Welcome to Numb3rs Fanfic Finders, the mirror community to [livejournal.com profile] numb3rsficfind on LiveJournal. As of 4/18/17 the LJ comm has been imported to this DW comm. I do not have any plans to delete the LJ comm at this point; this move was precautionary only.

You may post to either community, but please do not post to both. I will import the LJ community on a regular (though possibly infrequent since it’s been so quiet) basis and I would rather not have duplicate posts at this comm.

If you have any questions you may ask them here or contact me at spikedluv @ dreamwidth.org.

Thank you.

Rules:

~We're not just for fic! We hope to assist you with all your Numb3rs fan-related finding needs, including vids, author websites, actor interviews and more! (The only exception is episode downloads, as most download communities and/or posts, should they actually exist *g*, are locked.) Lost something Numb3rs-related? Go ahead and ask about it here!

~Please check the tags before asking about a fic, vid, etc, because someone may have already asked about it.

~Please include a descriptive subject line. For example, “LF Charlie h/c fic” is better than “LF fic.”

~Please put as much information about the fic, vid, etc in your post as you can to make it it easier for me to tag, and for others to find it later.

~You may post as may searches as you need, but please limit yourself to one search per post to make it easier for me to tag the post, and for others to find it later.

Please read the full rules located on the community profile before you post.

Hey, all! I'm going through the comm and tagging/retagging entries for the past year or so, and I've already come across several posts that do not include descriptive subect lines, and that include more than one request per post.

I know I've been an absentee mod here, but the rules are pretty clear. They can be found on the community profile, as well as in the blurb at the top of the main page.

1. Use a descriptive subject line to explain your search. Do Not use a subject line that says 'newbie here' or 'another fic search'. Tell us what you're looking for!

2. Only one search/request per entry. You may post as many searches/requests as you like, but keeping it to one per entry makes tagging and later searching of the tags easier.

Thank you!

I’d like to offer up a big thank you to everyone who has replied to searches posted here over the past few years, because without you this community would not be able to function. And I’d like to thank everyone who has posted a search here, as well, because without you, this community would be pointless.

For new and old members alike, I’d also like to take a moment to remind everyone what they can post here and of a couple important rules.

What types of searches you can post here: Pretty much anything! That’s right, we’re not just a fic find comm anymore. About two years ago, we expanded to include all your Numb3rs-related finding needs, from fic to graphics, interviews to websites, episode info to meta. If it has anything to do with Numb3rs, it’s a safe bet that you can ask about it here. (The only exception is certain *coff* downloads.)

If you’re inclined to include the caveat, “If this isn’t allowed here . . .” then you may want to take a gander at the rules before posting. If you’re still uncertain whether your search/query is allowed, please feel free to e-mail me at spikedluv @ livejournal.com and ask before you post.

A couple important rules: Please read the rules before posting a search. There aren’t many, and their main focus is to A) make it easier for me to tag/memory the posts (and ultimately easier for someone searching the comm to find later), and B) attempt to keep the same searches from hitting your f-list over and over again (so please don’t forget to check the tags before you post, in case your fic, or other Numb3rs-related item, has already been found).

The two most important posting rules are: 1) only one search per entry and 2) include a descriptive subject line.

Some other stuff that’s come up:

Community Policy on so-called “Self-Rec’ing”: We’re a fic find comm, not a rec comm, so answering someone’s search for a specific fic, or fic that fit a certain scenario, is not the same as recommending that fic. If your fic (or other Numb3rs-related creation) fits the request, then please, by all means, mention it! (The only time “self-rec’ing” would not be appropriate is if it makes you, the creator, feel the least bit uncomfortable.)

Be Kind: It’s not something that we’ve to worry about much here, so there isn’t yet a specific rule for it, but please, be kind in your replies. If the language or tone of a reply has caused someone to feel unwelcome here, or to delete their search, then that reply was probably inappropriate. So please, just make sure that you moderate your tone and/or language when replying to searches here.

Inappropriate Content & Abiding by the Rules: Please rest assured that I will let a poster know if a search is inappropriate for this community, or if they’re not following the rules; that’s not something anyone else has to concern themselves with.

Thank you.

Hey folks! Please remember that episode searches are the only thing that's not allowed here for the sole reason that most episode comms prefer to fly below the radar. I will make an exception if you f-lock the request post so only members of the comm can view it. That said, the most recent request post was not locked as I requested, so it has been deleted. Sorry for any inconvenience, but we don't want folk getting upset with us, or worse, closed down.

ETA: Just to clarify, I am talking about requests for episode downloads, not episode names or the like.

Thanks to everyone who is making use of this comm, and thanks especially to those of you who are answering their queries! *♥s you all*

I wanted to remind everyone that when it comes to tagging the posts with fic descriptions, author name, title, etc, I also tag them as ‘found’ or ‘open’. If you’re feeling especially industrious, please take a look at our open tag and see if you can fill in any of the blanks. (Please note that I mark non-specific requests, such as ‘LF Don/Charlie/Ian fic’ or 'LF Numb3rs/The Sentinel crossovers’, as remaining ‘open’, since the person making the request wasn’t asking for one fic in particular.)

On the other hand, if you’re in the mood to read some Numb3rs fic you might have missed, scroll back through our comm and check out the requests, or click on our found tag.

It appears that most of the folks who responded to the poll were in favor of expanding the scope of the community to include lost vids, author websites, etc. So from this day forward Numb3rs Fanfic Finders will serve as the one-stop community for finding lost Numb3rs-related...stuff. *g*

(The only exception I can think of is episode downloads, as most download communities and/or posts, should they actually exist *g*, are locked and prefer not to be advertised.)

The one rule that I cannot emphasize enough, now that we will have a little bit more traffic, is that you must check the memories and/or tags before submitting your request. Nobody, least of all the mod who has to memory and tag all the entries *g*, wants to see a dozen requests for the same fic or vid on their f-list. If it becomes an issue I will not hesitate to moderate the community, which would be a pain in the buttocks for all involved, so let's not go there, 'kay?

Question for you all. We're currently limited to finding lost fic, but I'm curious as to whether there is any interest in expanding the scope of the community to lost vids, author websites, etc?

[Poll #1004281]

Thank you! *g*

You're welcome to post as many fic searches as you need, but for tagging and memorying purposes I'm going to ask that you limit yourself to one fic per post. There's just not enough memory categories to appropriately memory more than one fic search per post, and I can't group the tags by which fic they apply to, so I think this will be easier for me everyone. *g*

Thank you!

(Please note that no one has done anything wrong! This is a new rule, though one I should have thought of previously, so I'll be over here kicking myself. *g*)
