I just finished reading a really brilliant fic on ff.net called Satan’s Ribbon by Wyntersonw and it got me thinking about more stories like it. Can anyone recommend me anything where Charlie is in trouble and saves himself instead of waiting for Don? The fic can be slash, gen, or het. I’ve already read everything on ff.net though.

Both When it rains: Well, you know (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3151421/1/When_it_rains_Well_you_know) and Blood Relations (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2962964/1/Blood_Relations) by dHALL include scenes where although Don does "rescue" Charlie in some way Charlie's actions are also integral to his survival. Some other dHALL's fics might also have scenes that would come close to what you're asking for, but I'm not 100% certain.
The Unquantifiable Variable (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2547188/1/) by BeckyS is another one of the "Charlie's a hostage" fics with Charlie's actions helping resolve the situation in one way or another.
Perceptions of Reality (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2238172/1/) by Xanthia Morgan is the oldest one of these fics. The strong!Charlie aspect comes near the end where the villain has him cornered and Charlie manages to inflict serious injuries to him, although also getting seriously injured himself. Don's role is more "getting there in time to cart Charlie off to the hospital".
All of these fics are relatively old. Most were written before season 3, and the last two are pre-S2.

Date: 2008-05-06 02:52 pm (UTC)As for Anxiety, I've actually read it already. It's definitely a good one, although not one of my all time favourites. Thanks for the rec, anyway. I don't think there are many longer Charlie-centric mostly gen fics of any quality at ff.net that I haven't read or at least checked out. With a theme search like this only the most memorable ones (and those with the most re-reads) come to mind, though.
