LF fic based on 'Nine Wives' ep from season 3

In this episode at the end Alan says to Charlie something like, "well you can't save the world."  And Charlie just gets this really strange look on this face (he's supposedly chatting with a Math colleague at a conference he blew off for Don on his laptop at the time).  Did anyone else catch this look?  Has anyone written a story that could explain this look?  Maybe something like Charlie really does save the world, well, a lot?
