Hi there!

I'm new in this fandom and I'm interested in reading some gen, pre-series stories. Them as teenagers or younger would be just perfect. Any suggestions?

This actually is not quite what you're looking for, but it's the first thing I thought of...:

Belief (http://audrarose.livejournal.com/34182.html) by audrarose. Takes place around Season 1, but mentions quite a few childhood moments and memories. Beautiful, kind of melancholy story.

If I think of some others I'll let you know. Welcome to the fandom! I don't know if you'll find any pre-series fic there, but for gen you might try numb3rs_gen_het.

I have tons of gen fic so it's hard to remember all of it.

I can tell you I have a whole series of Don and Charlie pre-series gen. It's just not teen years, more after Margaret's death and before the series begins.
