[identity profile] suonguyen.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] numb3rsficfind
Hey guys, hopefully this is allowed.

I'm kinda new to this fandom, and have been checking out stories of FF.net, but I was wondering if theres some Rec lists out there I can check out.

Thanks in advance.

[livejournal.com profile] schnaucl has good taste. Check the fic rec (http://schnaucl.livejournal.com/tag/fic+recs) tag on her LJ. I don't think I've been disappointed yet in anything she recced that I read.

What most people tend to suggest here is to read the list of nominated fic at [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_awards. They'll tell you to read the winners, but there's an awful lot of good fic that's not popular enough to have won, so I suggest reading the noms - if they sound appealing to you - as well as the winners.

Welcome to the fandom! LJ's full of great N3 fic, so enjoy!

Hmm... I never thought about them being locked, but drop her a comment to ask about seeing them. I think she was going to put them in a list at some point. Not sure if she did.

And FWIW you friending someone doesn't get you better access - they have to friend you. Not sure how she filters on recs since I was pretty sure they were public before. Mea culpa.

BTW, do you like drabbles? There are some really good drabble series over at [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs100 so I can give you some recs in that department if you'd like. There's a Drabble Series Master List on the comm that I can pluck some good series to rec to you off of.

You'd be surprised. There are some fantastic and experienced drabblers in this fandom. And the drabbles are by no means short fic when they are in a series. N100 allows drabbles of up to 300 words so in a four fic series that's 1200 words - flash length fic. Many series are even longer.

Okay, I'll rec series by name and you can find all the links on the Numb3rs100 Drabble Series Master List (http://community.livejournal.com/numb3rs100/318723.html)

That should be enough to get you started. But if you want to get deeper, here are the massive universes written in drabbles. (They're all well known in the fandom and very long - over 100 drabbles each.)

[livejournal.com profile] rubynye also writes fantastic drabble series, but they're not listed on that page. You can find them on her LJ though. She's got almost carte blanche from me, as does any drabble [livejournal.com profile] schnaucl has written - rare, but always quality work.

If you already read [livejournal.com profile] irena_adler, her drabbles are in the same universe as the rest of her fic. If you're cool with OFC's [livejournal.com profile] mustangcandi's The Sparkling Series went over well. If you're willing to give mine a try, I'm particularly fond of Staring Down the Barrel of a Gun.

Happy to offer more later, but for now, this should keep you busy a while! Enjoy!

Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] schnaucl's posts are locked, unfortunately.

You don't mention what kind of fic you're looking for, but if you like slash (early on it was all about Don/Charlie, lately there are David/Colby, Don/Colby, etc), you can find recs at my journal, as well. It's the fic rec: numb3rs tag.

You can also check out [livejournal.com profile] numb3rsfanrecs, though it's a sadly underutilized comm.

I'm so glad you found the Awards comm helpful! I've never seen anyone suggest just reading the winners, though that would keep you busy for a while *g*; there are a lot of fabulous nominated fic there.

Also, there's a Numb3rs tag at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van, a multi-fandom rec comm.

For about the first four seasons I was all about the Don/Charlie, so you'll find lots of those recs on my list. *g*
