LF Dark!Don, Serial Killer

I'm looking for a specific story but can't remember where I read it. 

The team was looking for a serial killer but didn't get anywhere, and Don asked Charlie to stop working on it. Charlie doesn't, however, and the suspect turns out to be Don.

The one that I know of:

Dark Justice by Valerie Vancollie. It's not quite your description, but it's close enough that it could be the one.

Otherwise, it wouldn't surprise me if Emmademarais hasn't written something along those lines at some point.
