It might be "Anxiety" by Alice I on fanfiction.net. I don't know for sure though. But I definitely remember Don in the hospital and Alan, Larry, and Charlie all in a safe house together in that particular story. I also remember the scene you are describing, but am not certain if it's in that fic or not. It's a good fic regardless if you haven't read it.
